BIOGRAPHY ABOUT Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van On

  • Dr. Tran Van On, Associate Professor, was born on August 3, 1966, in Phu Luong District, Thai Nguyen Province

  • Graduated with honors from Hanoi University of Pharmacy

  • Successfully defended the Master's thesis as a lecturer at the Department of Botany, Hanoi University of Pharmacy.

  • He became one of the few Vietnamese scientists to receive a Ph.D. in the field of medicinal plant conservation.

  • He was conferred the title of Associate Professor

  • Senior Lecturer, Department of Botany, Hanoi University of Pharmacy

With his profound knowledge and dedication to the pharmaceutical industry, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Van On has made significant contributions to its development. In addition to being a senior lecturer and former Head of the Botany Department at Hanoi University of Pharmacy, he also serves as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Vietnam Botanical Society. He previously held the positions of Chairman and Director of Duoc Khoa Pharmaceutical Company - Hanoi University of Pharmacy (now DK Pharma Joint Stock Company)

RESEARCH WORK

With over 30 years of dedicated research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van On has achieved remarkable accomplishments in the field of preserving and developing valuable medicinal plants. He is the author of more than 70 scientific papers published in prestigious domestic and international journals and has completed over 15 research projects that have been successfully applied in practice. Additionally, he has contributed to the compilation of textbooks for various academic levels.

Research on the conservation and sustainable use of Vietnamese medicinal plants (1998);

Developing the Hanoi University of Pharmacy Botanical Garden towards teaching, scientific research, and medicinal plant conservation (1998);

Modernizing traditional folk medicine of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities (2002);

Commercialization of Indigenous products: A new direction to eradicate poverty in Vietnam’s mountainous ethnic communities (2008);

Hypoglycemic effects of Gymnema sylvestre (Retz.) R. Br. ex Schult in Vietnam (2008);

Achievements and awards

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van On has been widely recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field. He has received numerous commendations from the Ministry of Health, including the Prime Minister's Award in 2010 and the Order of Labor, Third Class, from the President in 2012. His recognition as one of the 100 most influential individuals by Thanh Nien Publishing House in 2020 and his significant contributions to ASEAN have further solidified his standing in the global scientific community.
